Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Brockport to Middleport

June 17, 2016

Mariners are advised that the Erie Canal between Guard Gate 12 (Mile 279.9, just west of Village of Brockport) and Guard Gate 16 (Mile 307.08, just east of the Village of Middleport) will be closed to all navigation beginning on Monday, June 27th and lasting for several days to dewater a section of the Erie Canal requiring repairs.  The Erie Canal will reopen as soon as possible between Guard Gate 14 (Mile 294.29, just west of the Village of Albion) and Guard Gate 16, but will remain dewatered and closed between Guard Gate 12 (Brockport) and Guard Gate 14 (Albion) for several weeks while repairs are completed.

During this time, navigation on the Erie Canal between Brockport and Albion will not be possible, and public docking facilities at Holley and Albion will be inaccessible.  All locks and lift bridges west Guard Gate 14, and east of Guard Gate 12, will continue to operate normally, unless noticed otherwise.  The 48-hour mooring limit will be suspended at Canal walls in Brockport, Spencerport, Medina, and Middleport for the duration of this closure.

The Canal Corporation regrets any inconvenience caused by these repairs, which are essential to protect the safety of the Canal System for users and residents alike.
