Notice to Mariners
Erie Canal – City of Tonawanda
November 2, 2015
Mariners are advised that shore activities on the south side of the Canal, east of the railroad bridge (E-246), in the City of Tonawanda, Erie County are scheduled to begin November 2 and continue until the end of navigation. This work is not expected to affect any vertical clearances. The navigation channel width will be slightly reduced but will not significantly affect navigation. The deployment of the turbidity curtain is scheduled to begin on November 19 and followed by sediment dredging.
BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION AHEAD signs will be in placed at each end of the work zone and navigation aids will be in place to delineate the work zone.
Mariners should reduce speed, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No-Wake" speed when transiting this area.
