Notice to Mariners

Oswego Canal – Phoenix

May 25, 2023

Mariners are advised that the approaches to the Culvert St. (bascule) Lift Bridge (O-4) north of Oswego Canal Lock O-1 in Phoenix have limited capacity to moor and service vessels that cannot pass under the inoperable Culvert St. Lift Bridge. The Canal Corporation estimates the repair to the bridge’s motor will be completed in approximately three weeks. Until such time, the bridge will remain in the down position with a maximum overhead clearance of ten feet. Vessels that exceed the ten-foot overhead clearance are advised to not approach this location until the Lift Bridge is back in operation.

Updates will follow.
