 Notice to Mariners

Eastern Erie Canal – Fort Hunter/Scotia

October 7, 2022

Mariners are advised that the Burnt Hills Rowing Association will be conducting a marathon row on Saturday, October 8th. The event will start at the Schoharie Crossing west of Erie Canal Lock E-12 in Tribes Hill, continue to Lock E-8 in Scotia and finish in Alplaus near the Mohawk Valley Marina. Approximately 8 rowing shells will participate and be accompanied by five outboard escort boats.

Mariners should reduce speed, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when approaching event participants.

The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. All vessel operators should plan their trips to ensure they exit the system by that time. For more information, please click here.
