Notice to Mariners
Erie Canal - Waterford Harbor
September 6, 2022
Mariners are advised that the Waterford Canal Harbor will be restricted to vessels participating in the Waterford Tugboat Roundup from 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7th to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11th. No overnight docking will be available to pleasure or commercial vessels from Wednesday, September 7th to Monday, September 12th. This area of the Canal System will remain open to through-traffic. Transiting commercial traffic requiring clearance through this area must call the New York State Canal Corporation at (518) 461-0942, at least 24 hours in advance.
During this time, docking for non-event related commercial and pleasure craft will be restricted to between Locks E-3 and E-4 as directed by the Lock Operator. Docking in the main harbor area below Lock E-2 will be restricted to event vessels.
Additionally, a 25-yard security zone around participating vessels will be in effect during the Albany to Waterford tugboat parade from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 9th. A 50-yard security zone will be in effect around the fireworks staging barges located in Waterford Harbor on Saturday, September 10th.
