NOTICE TO MARINERS
ERIE CANAL – WATERFORD FLIGHT
JUNE 21, 2021
The New York State Canal Corporation today announced that due to a critical shortage of seasonal lock operators, the operating hours of the Waterford Flight (Locks E-2 through E-6 and Guard Gate 2) will be adjusted beginning Thursday, June 24. The new hours will be 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM seven days per week until further notice. Any vessel wishing to complete a transit through the Flight will need to arrive at Lock E-2 or Guard Gate 2 no later than 4:00 PM to guarantee passage through the entire Flight. As mentioned in previous Notices, mariners should expect periodic delays due to roving operators.
The Canal Corporation anticipates that the operating hours will be extended to accommodate special events and holiday weekends. Additional Notices will be issued as appropriate to announce any extended hours.
