Notice to Mariners
Erie Canal – Herkimer
August 12, 2020
Mariners are advised of a scaffolding shift for bridge painting activities at the Washington Street Bridge E-34A over the Erie Canal in the town of Herkimer that will take place on Thursday, August 13th. Normal overhead clearance will be reduced by one foot on the north half of the navigation channel due to lighted scaffolding beneath the bridge. Boaters should use the south side of the channel when passing under the bridge. Construction signs are posted on both sides of the bridge.
Boaters should reduce speed, stop all forward motion, blow horns, and proceed at a "No-Wake" speed when traversing this area.
