Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal - Waterford Harbor

Mariners are advised that the Waterford Canal Harbor will be restricted to vessels participating in the Waterford Tugboat Roundup from 7:00 AM on Friday, September 7th to 5:00 PM on Sunday, September 9th.  This area of the Canal System will remain open to through-traffic. Transiting commercial traffic requiring clearance through this area must call the New York State Canal Corporation at (518) 461-0942, at least 24 hours in advance.

During this time, docking for non-event related commercial and pleasure craft will be restricted to between Locks E-3 and E-4, with certain commercial vessels between Locks E-2 and E-3 in the Waterford Flight, as directed by the Lock Operator.  Docking in the main harbor area below Lock E-2 will be restricted to event vessels.

Additionally, a 25-yard security zone around participating vessels will be in effect during the Albany to Waterford tugboat parade from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, September 7th. A 25-yard security zone will be in effect around the fireworks staging barge located in Waterford Harbor on Saturday, September 8th.
