Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal – Crescent & Vischer Ferry

The Blenheim-Gilboa Project, working with the Canal Corporation, will remove flashboards at Crescent & Vischer Ferry Projects starting Tuesday, November 28, 2017. The schedule is as follows:

Monday, November 27 - PM water levels at Vischer Ferry drop to elevation 211 ft. by Tuesday AM.

Tuesday, November 28 - AM water levels at Vischer Ferry rise to 213.3 ft. +/-. AM water levels at Crescent drop to 0.5 ft. below crest, elevation 183.5 ft. Removal of flashboards at Crescent is completed. PM water levels at Crescent rise to crest, elevation 184.0 ft. and at Vischer Ferry water level drops to elevation 211.1 ft. through the night.

Wednesday, November 29 - AM water levels at Vischer Ferry drop to 0.3 to 0.5 ft. below crest. Removal of flashboards at Vischer Ferry is started. PM water levels at Vischer Ferry rise to 0.1 ft. above crest.

Thursday, November 30 - AM water levels at Vischer Ferry drop to 0.3 to 0.5 ft. below crest. Removal of flashboards continues. PM water levels at Vischer Ferry rise to 0.1 ft. above crest.

Friday, December 1 - AM water levels at Vischer Ferry drop to 0.3 to 0.5 ft. below crest. Removal of flashboards and fish deterrent systems at Vischer Ferry is completed. PM water levels at Vischer Ferry return to crest, elevation 211.0 ft.

 

Barring any further complications or inclement weather, the flashboard removal will be completed by Friday, December 1, 2017. Unforeseen precipitation and/or high water conditions may delay this schedule.
