Notice to Mariners
New York State Canal System

Mariners are reminded that the NYS Canal System will close for the season at 5pm on Wednesday, October 11th. Vessels traveling between Lake Ontario and the Hudson River must enter Oswego Canal Lock O-8 Oswego or Erie Canal Lock E-2 Waterford no later than 8am on Tuesday, October 10th to be able to complete their passage.
Commercially permitted vessels have until October 31st to clear the system. To apply for a commercial permit please contact the Navigation Program Manager at (518) 461-0942.
