By signing up for Canal Notices and Alerts, boaters can receive the latest information about Canal openings/closures, water levels, construction and other elements affecting navigation on the Erie, Champlain, Oswego and Cayuga-Seneca Canals. Residents, businesses, and other stakeholders around and downstream of Hinckley Reservoir can also be notified when changes to discharge rates from the reservoir, or into the Nine Mile Feeder, occur. NOTICE: Effective November 1, 2009, New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 1225-d prohibits the operator of a motor vehicle from using any portable electronic device while such vehicle is in motion. In this regard, portable electronic device includes, but is not limited to, cell phones, personal digital assistants, handheld devices with mobile data access, laptop computers, pagers, broadband personal communication devices and other portable computing devices. Hold Feature: The Canal Corporation offers a "Hold" feature that will allow you to place your subscription on hold.  Notices and Alerts will not be sent to your email address while in hold status. This option may be useful if you are going on vacation and do not want to receive emails during that time. 

After you submit your information and activate your subscription, you will be able to use the "Hold" feature by simply updating your profile information and checking the "Hold" option.
