Notice to Mariners

Eastern Erie Canal – E6-E8

Mariners are advised that due to recent high water on the Mohawk River, the Blenheim-Gilboa Project, working with the Canal Corporation, will reinstall flashboards at Crescent & Vischer Ferry dams starting Tuesday, July 18, 2017.  This is a week later than originally announced in a Notice to Mariners issued on June 30th.  The new schedule is as follows:

 

Monday, July 17 – Water level at Vischer Ferry starts approaching crest in the PM.

Tuesday, July 18 – Water level at Vischer Ferry 0.5’ below crest by AM. Installation of flashboards starts at Vischer Ferry in AM.  Installation of flashboards completed at Vischer Ferry in the PM.

Friday, June 19 – Water level at Vischer Ferry rises from elevation 211.0’ in AM to 213.3’. Crescent pond drops to 0.5’ below crest in AM. Installation of flashboards starts at Crescent in the AM.  Installation of flashboards completed at Crescent in the PM.   Crescent pond rises to 185.0’ in the PM as river flow permits.

 

Barring any complications or inclement weather, the flashboard installation will be completed Wedneday July 19.  Unforeseen precipitation and high water conditions may cause a delay in this schedule.
