Notice to Mariners
Oswego Canal

Mariners are advised that the Oswego Canal has been temporarily closed due to high water levels and flows associated with recent heavy rainfall. Vessels already transiting southbound between Locks O-6 and O-1, and vessels already transiting northbound between locks O-1 and O-8 may continue until they pass through, conditions permitting. Lock O-8 will remain open from 7 am to 5 pm daily for vessels seeking mooring between Locks O-7 and O-8.
Mariners should proceed with caution in sections of the Canal System which remain open and be aware of debris in the water or buoys which may move off station in strong currents.
