Notice to Mariners

Central New York Canals Reopening

July 6, 2015

 

Mariners are advised that the Oswego Canal will reopen to all recreational and commercial vessel traffic at 8 am on Tuesday, July 7.

The Erie Canal from Lock E-23 (Brewerton) to Lock E-24 (Baldwinsville) will reopen to all recreational and commercial vessel traffic at 7 am on Tuesday, July 7.

The Erie Canal from Lock E-24 (Baldwinsville) to Lock E-25 (Mays Point), and the Cayuga-Seneca Canal from Lock CS-1 (Aurelius) to the junction of the Erie Canal, are tentatively projected to reopen to all recreational and commercial vessel traffic at 8 am on Wednesday, July 8.   At that point, the entire New York State Canal System will be open to navigation.

As these sections reopen, a “No Wake” restriction will remain in effect for the Cayuga-Seneca Canal between Lock CS-1 (Aurelius) and the Erie Canal junction, the Erie Canal between Lock E-23 (Brewerton) and Lock E-25 (Mays Point), and the Oswego Canal from Three Rivers to Lock O-1, until further notice.
