Notice to Mariners

Erie Canal & Oswego Canal

June 22, 2015

Mariners are advised that the Erie Canal from Lock E-23 (Brewerton) to the Oswego Canal junction at Three Rivers, and from Lock E-25 (Mays Point) to Lock E-27 (Lyons), and the Oswego Canal from Three Rivers to Lock O-1 (Phoenix) have re-opened to all vessel traffic, effective immediately.  Navigation is now possible from Oneida Lake (Brewerton) to Lock O-1 (Phoenix).

The remainder of the Oswego Canal, and the Erie Canal from Three Rivers to Lock E-24, is projected to re-open no later than 10 am on Tuesday, June 23.  At that time, navigation between the Hudson River and Lake Ontario will be restored.

A “No Wake” restriction will remain in effect on the Erie Canal from Oneida Lake to Lock E-24, and the Oswego Canal, until further notice.

The Erie Canal from Lock E-24 (Baldwinsville) to Lock E-25 (Mays Point), along with the Cayuga-Seneca Canal between Lock CS-1 (Aurelius) and the Erie Canal Junction will likely remain closed to navigation for several more days as conditions continue to improve.
