Notice to Mariners
Erie Canal – Oneida/Herkimer/Montgomery Counties
September 18, 2020
Mariners are advised that bridge inspections are in progress on the eastern Erie Canal starting Monday, September 21st and continuing until Friday, September 25th on the following bridges:

Mill St. Bridge (E-52) in Rome

Moss Road (E-39) in Schuyler
-
Service Road (E-29) in Danube
-
NY Route 80 Bridge (E-25) in Minden
- NY Route 30 (E-23) in Mohawk
Channel width may be reduced, and slight delays may occur due to a bucket boat moving below each bridge being inspected.
Mariners should reduce speed, stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No Wake" speed when transiting these areas.
The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. All recreational and commercial vessel operators should plan their trips to ensure they exit the system by that time. For more information, click here.
