NOTICE TO MARINERS
CANAL SYSTEM UPDATE
July 24, 2020
The New York State Canal Corporation announced today the following update:
Erie Canal
All locks and lift bridges are operating
Champlain Canal
Lock C-1 (Waterford) – Lock C-11 (Comstock) – operating
Maintenance activities continue at Lock C-12 (Whitehall) – expected opening August 10th
Oswego Canal
Locks O-1 (Phoenix) – Lock O-5 (Minetto), Lock O-8 (Oswego) – operating
Construction activities continue at Lock O-7 (Oswego) – expected opening August 10th
- Lock O-6 (Oswego) will open at the same time as Lock O-7
Cayuga – Seneca Canal
Lock CS-1 (Cayuga) and Lock CS-4 (Waterloo) – operating
Construction activities continue at Lock CS-2/3 (Seneca Falls) – expected opening August 3rd
The Canal system is scheduled to close to navigation on October 14, 2020.
The Canal Corporation appreciates the public’s patience during this time and urges all users to register to receive updates through the “Notice to Mariners” notification program at www.canals.ny.gov.
