Notice to Mariners
Erie Canal – Orleans, Monroe and Wayne Counties
June 5, 2019
Mariners are advised that bridge washing activities have begun on New York State Department of Transportation bridges between Horan Road (E-209) in Village of Medina, Orleans County and Route 31 (E-99A) in Village of Lyons, Wayne County. There are 36 bridges to be washed.
These activities will continue until the closed of the navigation season.
Work is to be completed by pontoon boat. A safety spotter will be positioned on the craft to minimize disruption to the boating public.
Mariners should proceed with caution through these areas and stop all forward motion and proceed at a "No-Wake" speed.
