Overview

Adventure travel shouldn’t be an adventure to plan.

Many people want to get up close and personal with New York’s canals, either in the water or on the Erie Canalway Trail. More than a few would love to take an extended trip in the canal corridor, but get caught up trying to figure out where to stay the night and what to do with their gear.

That could soon become a thing of the past.

This entry seeks to build unique accommodations that would put the canals on many a bucket list. Not only could travelers spend the night in a cabin that was anything but rustic, they could set out the next day without a fuss. And for those who want to grab a bite or stock up on supplies, accommodations will be near welcoming towns proud to show off their canal heritage.

The Erie Canalway Trail will be part of the Empire State Trail, which will be the nation’s largest state multi-use trail system when it’s completed in 2020. More trails translates to more visitors who’ll be able to go the distance from Albany to Buffalo and find out just what makes the Erie Canal one of New York’s iconic assets. Let the adventure begin!
