NYS CANAL CORPORATION TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING ON REHABILITATION PROJECT FOR DERUYTER DAM RESERVOIR

The New York State Canal Corporation will host a public informational meeting about a project to repair the DeRuyter Dam and Reservoir in Madison and Onondaga counties. The repairs will include embankment stability berm construction, installing drainage systems and building new low-level outlets for the dam

The project will require the Canal Corporation to lower the DeRuyter Reservoir’s elevation about 10 feet to allow the work to proceed while protecting the safety and integrity of the dam. Repairs will begin after Labor Day, in order to minimize the impact to property owners, boating and fishing interests during the peak summer months and take 10 to 12 months to complete.
