Notice to Mariners

Champlain Canal Buoy Relocation

Mariners are advised that buoy R 216 on the Champlain Canal in the Town of Fort Edward has been temporarily relocated approximately 300 feet from its location indicated on NOAA charts due to dredging operations being conducted by General Electric. The Canal Corporation expects that this buoy will need to be frequently relocated short distances by General Electric over the next several weeks.
Mariners are urged to use caution when navigating through the General Electric dredging project and reminded that a weekly Notice to Mariners is published by the Canal Corporation detailing upcoming dredging activities.
All boaters must contact the Vessel Traffic Center on VHF Channel 18A for transit information through the work zone.
