Notice to Mariners

Chart 14786

Erie, Oswego and Cayuga/Seneca Canals

September 9, 2011

Mariners are advised that the Erie Canal from Lock E-24 in Baldwinsville to Lock E-25 in Mays Point, the Cayuga/Seneca Canal from Lock C/S-1 at Mud Lock through the confluence of the Erie Canal, and the Oswego Canal from Lock O-1 in Phoenix to Lock O-8 in Oswego will reopen for navigation at 7:00 AM on Saturday, September 10, 2011.

Mariners should reduce their speed for safe operation and be alert for higher than normal river flows, and floating debris. Mariners should also proceed with caution as some navigation aids may be off station. Overhead clearance may also be reduced due to higher than normal water levels.

The Erie Canal from Lock E-2 in Waterford to Lock E-22 in New London and the Champlain Canal, from Lock C-1 to Lock C-7 as well as Lock C-12, remain closed.
