Notice to Mariners

Cayuga and Seneca Canal - Triathlon

Mariners are advised that the swim segment of the “2011 Musselman Triathlon” swimming event will be held on Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17, 2011. The event will take place at the mouth of the Seneca Lake Outlet, at the north end of the lake to the Rt. 96A Bridge (S-13A).
Triathlon swimmers will be in the water from 8:30 to 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2011 and 6:30 to 9:00 AM on Sunday, July 17, 2011. The Seneca County Sheriff, State Park patrol boats and support kayaks will be in the vicinity of the course.
Boaters are reminded to use caution and be mindful of their wakes in this area. There will be a total of 800 to 900 swimmers in the water, in groups of 100 to 140 swimmers each, participating during the duration of the event.
