Erie Canal – Regatta

Mariners are advised that the Alplaus Fire Company #1 Ladies Auxiliary will hold a “Paddling for a Cure” regatta in Alplaus in the Town of Glenville on Sunday, July 17, 2011. The location of the regatta is between Locks E-8 (Scotia) and E-7 (Vischer Ferry) and will take place from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The regatta area runs from the Waters Edge Light House, just east of the Western Gateway Bridge and proceeds east to buoy R56, past the Schenectady Yacht Club.
Boaters are reminded to use caution and be mindful of their wakes in this area as there will be 75 to 250 kayakers and canoeists in that area of the Canal on the north side of the navigation channel, participating over the duration of the event.
