Notice to Mariners

Mariners are advised, due to a local State of Emergency resulting from persistent high water levels on Lake Champlain, Lock C-12 (Whitehall) will remain closed for navigation for recreational traffic, until further notice. Operation of Lock C-12 for commercial and other non-recreational traffic will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and in consultation with the U.S. Coast Guard and emergency management officials.
In the event the U.S. Coast Guard closes Lake Champlain north of Whitehall to vessel traffic, Lock C-12 will be closed to all traffic.
Mariners are advised to monitor U.S. Coast Guard local notices to mariners and the NYS Canal Corporation website at www.canals.ny.gov for updates and information.
