Notice to Mariners
Canal System Update

Mariners are advised, due to improving conditions along portions of the NYS Canal System additional sections of the Erie Canal may open as early as Saturday, May 14, 2011. Conditions permitting, these sections are likely to include the Erie Canal between Waterford and Oneida Lake and the Erie Canal between Lyons and the Genesee River (Rochester).
Due to persistent high water and excessive flows, the Champlain Canal, Oswego Canal, Cayuga-Seneca Canal and Erie Canal between Brewerton and Lyons are expected to remain closed to navigation until at least the week of May 23rd.
