NOTICE TO MARINERS

Champlain Canal

August 3, 2009

Mariners are advised that the M/V Day Peckinpaugh will be traveling the Champlain Canal during the month of August.  As part of the Working on Water tour and the Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial Celebration, the 259' long Day Peckinpaugh will be stopping and mooring in many Champlain Canal communities during this voyage, and as such, recreational and commercial vessel mooring will not be available in many canal harbors and service ports during these stops.

Mariners may wish to avoid docking in these locations on dates the Day Peckinpaugh is scheduled to be in port. Vessels docked in areas designated for the Day Peckinpaugh may be required to move. At facilities where additional space is available, sections of wall and dock may remain available for recreational and commercial mooring. The following is a list of dates and mooring locations for the voyage of the Day Peckinpaugh:

  • 8/3 & 8/4 Waterford Canal Harbor
  • 8/5 Mechanicville Canal Terminal
  • 8/6 Lock C-8 lower wall
  • 8/7 & 8/8 Whitehall Canal Harbor
  • 8/10 -8/12 Plattsburgh Canal Terminal (Wilcox Dock)
  • 8/20 & 8/21 Whitehall Canal Harbor
  • 8/22 & 8/23 Fort Edward upper terminal (Canal shop)
  • 8/24 - 8/30 Schuylerville land cut (Eagle Point)

Canal terminals identified above may be referenced by local park names in various publications. Dates and locations of stops not at Canal Corporation facilities or on mainline Canal System branches have not been included.
