NOTICE TO
MARINERS
Champlain Canal
September 29, 2008
Mariners are advised that the New York State Department of
Transportation will be conducting bridge inspections from Lock E-2
in Waterford to Lock C-12 in Whitehall. These inspections will take
place from Tuesday, September 30th until
Wednesday, October 8th.
Boaters should be aware of inspection crews working near and
under Canal bridges from floats that may partially block the
navigation channel at times. Boaters must also observe No-Wake zones
at bridge inspection sites during this time period.
Bridge inspection dates and areas are listed below:
Tuesday , 9/30 in Waterford
near Lock E-2.
Thursday , 10/1 between Locks
C-6 and C-7.
Friday , 10/2 between Locks
C-9 and C-11.
Tuesday , 10/7 between C-9 and
C-12 .
Wednesday , 10/8 between C-7
and C-9.
For updates and information, mariners are advised to monitor
1-800-4CANAL4 and www.nyscanals.gov. Additionally, mariners may sign
up for automatic e-mail and text message alerts through the Canal TRANSalert service. This service is offered to notify mariners
of major incidents and emergencies that may affect navigation on the
