MARINERS

Paddling Regatta

Mariners are advised that
the Alplaus Fire
Company #1 Ladies Auxiliary will hold a "Paddling for a Cure"
regatta on Sunday, July 20th, from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
The event will start at the
Burnt Hills Rowing Association docks at the Capital Region Maritime
Center, proceeding east to Buoy 57 and back to the Maritime Center. The location of the event is between Locks E-7 and E-8, in
the vicinity of the Schenectady Yacht Club.
Boaters are reminded to use caution and be mindful of their wakes
in this area as there will be 75 to 150 kayaks, in that vicinity on
the north shore, participating over the duration of the event.
For updates and information, mariners are advised to monitor
1-800-4CANAL4 and www.nyscanals.gov. Additionally, mariners may sign
up for automatic e-mail and text message alerts through the new
Canal TRANSalert service. This service is offered to notify mariners
of major incidents and emergencies that may affect navigation on the
New York State Canal System. To register for this service, please
