NEW YORK STATE CANAL SYSTEM

Mariners are advised that underwater dam inspections will be performed along portions the Oswego Canal from Tuesday, July 15th through Thursday, July 17th, 2008. The underwater dam inspections are schedule as follows: Lock O-1 (Phoenix): July 15th, Lock O-2 (Fulton), July 16th, Lock O-6 (Oswego): July 17th.

The water levels may fluctuate from normal levels to approximately 1.5 feet below normal on the days and locations where the inspections are scheduled, in order to accommodate divers performing these inspections.

For updates and information, mariners are advised to monitor 1-800-4CANAL4 and www.nyscanals.gov. Additionally, mariners may sign up for automatic e-mail and text message alerts through the new Canal TRANSalert service. This service is offered to notify mariners of major incidents and emergencies that may affect navigation on the New York State Canal System.
