NEW YORK STATE CANAL SYSTEM

Mariners are advised that the Canal Corporation will be conducting embankment repair operations on the north bank of the Erie Canal between Lock E-18 in German Flatts and Guard Gate #5 in Herkimer beginning Tuesday, August 7th. Vessels transiting the area must proceed with caution and at a “No Wake” speed until further notice.

Several Canal Corporation vessels will be on scene and underway nearby in conjunction with these operations, and standing by on VHF channel 13 for passing arrangements.

Additionally, mariners may sign up for automatic email and text message alerts through the new Canal TRANSalert service.
