To avoid any unnecessary inconvenience or delays, mariners seeking passage through a Canal Corporation lock are advised to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the scheduled closing time.

hours of operation for the 2010 Navigation Season

incidents and emergencies that may affect navigation on the
New York State Canal System sign up for Canal TRANSalert.
Notices to Mariners provide the latest information about Canal openings/closures, water levels, construction and other elements affecting navigation on the Erie, Champlain, Oswego and Cayuga-Seneca Canals. When necessary, the Canal Corporation issues several Notices to Mariners daily. Notices to Mariners are only posted on the website Monday through Friday during regular business hours. For the most up-to-date information on the Canal water conditions, please call 1-800-4CANAL4 and press option 3.

- August 26, 2010 -- Mariners are advised that they may experience minor delays when passing under the Northumberland Bridge (C-10) in Northumberland on Friday, August 27, 2010, due to continued DOT painting activities
- August 25, 2010 -- Mariners are advised that the Erie Canal between Lock E-2 in Waterford to Lock E-21 in New London continues to be closed until further notice
- August 25, 2010 -- Mariners are advised that the Oswego Canal between Lock O-1 in Phoenix to Lock O-8 in Oswego continues to be closed due to high water levels and flows from heavy rainfall, until further notice

Brewerton to Lock E-25 in May’s Point have been pushed off
station by strong currents and debris caused by heavy rainfall

that the navigation channel width at the Elmgrove Road Bridge
(E-171) in the Town of Greece will be limited to the north side
of the channel due to installation of a mural beginning on
